The WISE Women of the Year Award is a prestigious honor that recognizes three extrordinary women who have made a significant impact on the business of sports and events. January 20, 2010 - Nike Event: The Chicago NIKE "Behind the Scenes" Event hosted WISE at their offices in Downtown Chicago. Approximately 50 people attended the event. A panel from NIKE's Chicago team talked about the mission and brand initiatives for NIKE Running and how those initiatives led to activation plans for their Chicago Marathon and Shamrock Shuffle sponsorship as well as other events. Speakers included: Cindy Hamilton - Public Relations; Ryan Carter - Consumer Experiences; Cindy Meyer - Retail Brand Marketing.
February 22, 2010 - Going for the Gold: Achieving Personal Success: WISE members cheered on Team USA at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Special guest, Jenny Hadfield a well known motivational speaker and co-founder of Chicago Endurance Sports treated guests to her Life Lessons Learned in the Jungle. Jenny who has participated in three Eco-Challenges took the attendees to life lessons learned on those weeks in the jungle. Jenny shared her experiences and knowledge to encourage members to reach beyond their comfort ones, break through fears and improve self-confidence.
March 23, 2010 - Chicago Blackhawks vs Phoenix Coyotes: WISE members will meet pre-game for an hour of networking and socializing. Then they will cheer on the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center.

February 18, 2010 - "The New Do's and Dont's of Event Marketing: About 25 members and non members joined together for a panel discussion featuring top Cleveland marketing minds, including James Krouse, Marketing and Public Relations Director at Ingenuity Festival and founder of Pear Tree Communications, Katrina Marshall, Special Events and Communications Coordinator at the Cleveland Foodbank, Jenna Snyder, Director of Marketing and Communications at the United Way of Greater Cleveland and Julie Provins, Creative Services Manager from cleveland.com, moderated by Lisa Sands, Marketing Director at Cleveland Magazine. The panelists focused on cost-effective new event marketing trends and ideas and a Q&A followed.
March 9, 2010 - "Beer, Bikes and Biz" at Ray's Indoor Mountain Bike Park: NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) and WISE (Women in Sports and Events) invite you to a fun and different business after hours event. Come and network with other businesswomen while we watch mountain bike stunt riders negotiate the indoor mountain trail at Ray's MTB.
April 22, 2010 - Cleveland In Sports "Beyond the Major Leagues at Cleveland State University": There's more to sports in NEO besides the Indians, Browns, and Cavs. In fact, Cleveland is home to thriving sports entities, some of the best NCAA teams, and internationally recognized racing events. WISE has created a panel where representatives from these teams, events, and leagues will talk about the ups and downs of being in the athletic field in Cleveland, what it takes to generate a fan base, how they are getting the word out of their league/team/players, getting the community involved, and the like. This is going to be an exciting and informative WISE event that you don't want to miss! The panel will include:John Adams (COO/GM - Cleveland Gladiators); Mickey Ryzmek(GM- North Coast Multisport - Triathlons, cycling events, road races); Joe Jaketic(Coach, NCAA, Women's Cross Country - CSU); and two representatives from Roller Derby and US Speed skating!

April 20, 2010 - Women in Leadership Speaker Symposium: Scheduled guests include Sue Rodin, president, WISE; Diane McGraw, president, Red Eye Entertainment & Sue Lipton, senior director of broadcasting at IMG. The event will be open to the SU population, and will include the opportunity for students to speed network with panelists and women actively engaged in sports and events in Central New York.
